This work began as a response to my grief for the imminent loss of a dear friend. We lived in separate countries, and rather than ask how she was, I would send her images of where I wandered; these became the starting point for the series.
Line-making with pastel pencils became a meditative act, a place where I considered life, our unknown time here, and what makes a good life.
Each image is scanned to print at a large size (60 inches or bigger). On each final print, I paint with acrylic gold paint 56 lines to mark each year my friend spun around this sun with us.
